Film Screening and Discussion: Working Girls
What counts as work, and who gets recognised as a worker? Working Girls, directed by Paromita Vohra, travels across India to uncover the vast spectrum of labour performed by women that sustains families, communities, and economies but often remains invisible. Through stories of domestic workers, farmers, mothers, ASHA workers, dancers, organisers, and others, the film reimagines the meaning of labour with wit, insight, and compassion.
Created in collaboration with the Laws of Social Reproduction project, the documentary invites audiences to question long-held assumptions about work, gender, value, and visibility. The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Paromita Vohra on storytelling, feminist filmmaking, and the politics of labour.
This event is supported by Regenta Central, North Goa ( By Royal Orchids Hotel ) and Justice Adda.
