Yoko Ono, born in Tokyo, Japan, is a conceptual and multimedia artist whose practice spans performance, music, video, painting, installation, sculpture, and text-based works. After her first solo exhibition at AG Gallery in New York in 1961, she became a central figure in the development of conceptual and participatory art, closely associated with the Fluxus movement.

Ono’s artistic research focuses on the human condition in its psycho-physical complexity, exploring the visible and invisible dimensions of existence. Her works often emphasize interrelational dynamics, audience participation, and the connection between individuals and the wider universe, encouraging reflection on peace, memory, and collective responsibility.

Her work has been exhibited extensively at major international institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Venice Biennale, the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and the Japan Society in New York.
