Stefano Canto
Artist
Brief info
Stefano Canto was born in Italy, Rome. He is a contemporary visual artist whose practice explores the semantics of objects and their relationship to natural environments, urban spaces, and human interaction. Working across sculpture, installation, photography, and video, his work often engages with sociological themes, questioning architecture, history, and the transformation of built environments.
Canto frequently employs materials such as reclaimed bricks and architectural fragments, using processes of deconstruction and reassembly to reflect on memory, displacement, and the evolving nature of cities. His works investigate how spaces embody cultural narratives and collective histories, bridging the disciplines of art, natural sciences, and archaeology.
His work has been exhibited internationally in both solo and group exhibitions, including All That Fall at Museo Riso, Palermo; Geographies in Contraction at NARS Foundation (New York); Recupero at the Museum of Design; and Connect the Dots (and See the Unseen) at MACRO – Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome. He has also participated in various international residencies and public art projects. Stefano Canto has exhibited his work at Janela.
