Brief info

Siji Krishnan is a contemporary artist based in Kochi, Kerala, whose paintings explore memory, interiority, and the sensory experience of space. Her distinctive technique involves layering fine rice paper onto canvas, creating fragile, textured surfaces that evoke organic forms and incubatory, dreamlike environments. Through a subtle blend of figural and gestural elements, her works reflect bodily memory and emotional resonance.

Krishnan holds a BFA from the Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, University of Kerala, and an MFA from the Sarojini Naidu School of Fine Arts, University of Hyderabad. She was an artist-in-residence at the Koganecho Art Center, Yokohama, Japan, in 2019.

Her work is part of major international collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne; Dallas Museum of Art; Minneapolis Institute of Art; and the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, New Delhi. She has participated in significant exhibitions such as the NGV Triennial, Moscow Biennale of International Contemporary Art, and the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, and has held solo exhibitions including Liminal Spaces (Michael Kohn Gallery, Los Angeles, 2024). Her first solo museum exhibition, The Secret Place, is scheduled at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art in 2025.She presented her work in the exhibition “Posthumous Dialogues with Francis Newton Souza.”
