Shripad Gurav is a Goan contemporary artist and printmaker known for his nuanced figurative language and vibrant depictions of Goa’s landscapes and cultural life. His artistic journey began with childhood sketches and evolved into a practice that reflects memories of the region’s Christian communities, everyday experiences, and the visual influences of his academic training.

Gurav completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Goa University in 2003 and went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the University of Hyderabad in 2006, where he was awarded the Gold Medal in Printmaking. His engagement with traditional printmaking techniques such as etching has been central to his artistic expression.

He has received several accolades, including a Junior Research Fellowship in Printmaking from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2009), the Goa State Award for Painting from the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation (2018), and an Honourable Mention at the 1st Print Biennale India organized by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2018). Shripad Gurav presented his work in the exhibition “Posthumous Dialogues with Francis Newton Souza.”
