Brief info
Pramod Prakash, born on 5 January 1968 in Ulao, Begusarai district, Bihar, is an Indian contemporary painter. He completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat.
Prakash’s work explores the identity of the inner self within the context of violence-ridden contemporary society. His paintings are layered with symbolic narratives, often unfolding like chapters of an ongoing novel. Engaging with themes of tragedy, memory, and human existence, his practice reflects a deeply introspective and philosophical approach to storytelling through visual form.
He has presented his work in several exhibitions across India, including a solo exhibition at Sarjan Art Gallery, Baroda (2008), and group shows at the Durbar Hall Art Centre, Kochi (2009); Max Müller Bhavan, Bengaluru (2009); the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda (2011, 2012); Bhopal (2011); Mumbai (2001, 2013); and the Bihar Lalit Kala Akademi, Patna (2014). He also participated in the Sandarbh six-month residency and international workshop (2007–08) and served as a Visiting Lecturer at Patna Art and Craft College in 2006. Earlier in his career, he exhibited serigraphic works at Art Core, Vadodara (2000). Pramod Prakash presented his work in the exhibition “Posthumous Dialogues with Francis Newton Souza.”
