Luigi Presicce

Artist

Brief info

Luigi Presicce is a contemporary artist based in Florence, Italy, whose multidisciplinary practice spans performance, drawing, and painting. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Lecce, shaping his artistic language through independent research and experimentation.

Presicce has participated in several international residencies and collaborative initiatives, including the Higher Visual Arts Course (CSAV) at the Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como with Joan Jonas (2007) and the Artists in Residence program with Kim Jones at Via Farini in Milan (2008). He is a founding member of artist-led initiatives such as Brownmagazine and Brown Project Space in Milan, Archivazioni in Lecce, and the Fondazione Lac o le Mon in San Cesario di Lecce. Since 2010, he has been involved in the collective project Lu Cafausu, which promotes The Festival of the Living, and was invited to participate in dOCUMENTA (13) in Kassel.

His artistic practice is centered on the search for transcendence, unfolding through a circular creative process that connects the material roots of human existence with the fantastical realism of the invisible. Alongside his studio practice, Presicce has curated several exhibitions and symposia focused on contemporary Italian painting and has been part of the Scuola di Santa Rosa, a free school of drawing based in Florence and New York. He exhibited his work in Janela.
