Kedar Dhondu

Artist

Brief info

Kedar Dhondu is a visual artist based in Goa. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Goa College of Art, Panaji, and went on to pursue a Master’s degree from the University of Hyderabad. In 2008, he was awarded the Kashi Visual Art Award, recognizing his emerging contribution to contemporary art.

Dhondu’s practice often draws from the visual language of miniature painting, which he juxtaposes with themes of psychological tension and violence. Working primarily in watercolour, his series To Hurt explores states of fear, misunderstanding, and emotional conflict, evoking a visceral response from viewers. Through the use of symbolic imagery, such as animals like bulls and stags, he shifts the focus of pain from the depicted subject to the psychological experience of the observer.

He has participated in several group exhibitions, including The July Show at The Guild, Mumbai (2008), the State Art Exhibition (2005–06), and the Harmony Show in Mumbai (2004–05). He also took part in a printmaking workshop at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal (2004–05). Kedar Dhondu has exhibited his work at Janela.
