K.M. Madhusudhanan, born in 1956 in Kerala, is an artist and filmmaker whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, installation, video art, and cinema. He studied painting at the College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, and printmaking at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

Deeply influenced by the history and language of cinema, his work explores themes of memory, colonialism, war, and displacement. His series Archaeology of Cinema reflects this engagement with moving images and cultural history. As a filmmaker, his notable works include Self Portrait (2001) and History is a Silent Film (2006), both recognized by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York, and Bioscope (2008), which received five Kerala State Film Awards and the Special Jury National Award. K.M. Madhusudhanan presented his work in the exhibition “Posthumous Dialogues with Francis Newton Souza.”
