Brief info

Arindam Thokder is a Bangalore-based independent photographer with a strong visual sensibility for contrast and colour. His practice focuses on documenting social issues, conflicts, charitable initiatives, and the diverse cultures and landscapes of India.

He is part of the international photography collective Vivo, and his personal projects have been exhibited at various photography festivals in India and internationally, including the Indian Photography Festival (Hyderabad), Street Parade (Paris), Angkor Photo Festival, A Million Mutinies Later | India at 70 (Cardiff), and Odesa–Batumi Photo Days (Georgia).

His photo stories have been published in leading platforms such as The Caravan, Scroll, Mint (Hindustan Times), and Better Photography. In 2017, he was awarded the sixth edition of the Neel Dongre Award for Excellence in Photography by the India Photo Archive Foundation. He also received the Sahapedia Grant for his project Larger Than Life, documenting hand-painted movie posters and banners. He has exhibited his work in the Cycle Diaries exhibition.
