PARI: A Living Journal, A Breathing Archive
PARI focuses on the everyday lives of everyday people. Rural India is the most diverse part of the planet. It is home to 833 million people who speak nearly 800 languages and share millions of livelihoods, arts, cultures, literature, and legends—yet they are often left out of mainstream media narratives. This presentation explores the need to document these stories and introduces what rural journalism looks like.
Kanika Gupta is a Senior Content Editor at the People’s Archive of Rural India. She leads PARI’s FACES project and the Archive of Adivasi Children’s Art. Shreya Katyayini is a filmmaker and Senior Video Editor at the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI). In her stories, she explores the theme of religious syncretism and covers climate justice, along with the arts and crafts of rural Bihar.
