Indie Cinema and Mainstream Cinema- Ronak Kamat’s Journey

This is a journey of Ronak Kamat’s works over the years as both, a writer and a filmmaker, demystifying the differences between working in an Independent Film space vs a large-scale Commercial one, and how a young artist can and must find a balance between the two.

The presentation includes a screening of Kamat’s 2015 award-winning short documentary, ‘Caazu’.

Ronak Kamat is a Writer and Director known for his documentaries, short films and writing work for OTT platforms. His documentaries and short films as a Writer – Director have travelled to numerous Film Festivals worldwide and have won the ‘Best Documentary’ and ‘Best Short Film’ Awards. His last short film, ‘Bare’, won the ‘Best Film on Women’ Award at CICFF (India) 2021 and an ‘Honourable Mention for Best Director’ at the Eastern Europe Film Festival in Romania.

His writing debut, PI Meena, an Amazon Prime Original which he co-wrote along with Arindam Mitra, was released worldwide on November 3rd 2023. He has also worked as a writing consultant on a number of other TV shows, some of which are in production at the moment. He has also worked as a dialogue writer for Advertising Films and as an Editing Supervisor on a Feature Documentary on a sensitive subject.
