Film Screening: I Am Nothing

‘I Am Nothing’ is a poignant and visually captivating documentary that chronicles the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Vamona Ananta Sinai Navelcar (1929–2021), a Goan artist whose work and experiences span three continents—Asia, Europe, and Africa. Directed by Ronak Kamat and shot entirely in Goa, the film blends rare archival footage, personal interviews, and an evocative score by Ashley Fernandes. It highlights Navelcar’s signature works like the “clown series” and single-stroke drawings, while reflecting on his ongoing under recognition in Goa. Crafted over eight years, this one-hour film stands as a tribute to an artist who chooses humility over fame and believes in art as a form of connection.

Ronak Kamat is a writer and director known for his award-winning documentaries, short films, and screenwriting. His short film ‘Bare’ wins at CICFF 2021 and earns international acclaim. He debuts globally with Amazon Prime’s ‘PI Meena’ and writes for the hit Jio Hotstar series ‘Power of Paanch’.
