Delhi-Goa-Delhi: Journeys, Stories, People, Change

Shalini Singh, co-founder and trustee of the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI), is an award-winning journalist recognised for her impactful reporting on environmental issues. She receives some of India’s highest journalism honours and is described by ELLE India as a fearless reporter who “will stop at nothing for the truth.”

Over a decade ago, her work brings her to Goa, where an inquiry into unplanned tourism opens up deeper stories of illegal mining, unequal development, and even a mysterious shipwreck. Unexpected encounters, shared meals, and the generosity of local citizens shape a transformative professional and personal chapter, despite the challenges of getting those stories published. Ten years later, she turns her focus to Delhi’s most vulnerable farmers and fisherfolk facing climate change, finding echoes of the same inequalities.
