Craft, Draught, Micro, Marco

In the world of beer, a few words keep cropping up: craft, draught, micro, and macro. But what do they really mean? And how do these definitions shift across Indian states and global beer cultures?

To find out, we turn to Aditya Challa, the man who helps put Goa on India’s craft beer map, founder of Susegado Microbrewery. His story is about building an identity for a state already known for its laid-back Susegado ethos, and marrying that cultural rhythm with the precision and creativity of brewing.

For Aditya, it means pushing through regulatory hurdles, navigating licensing systems, and making the case for why a microbrewery coexists with, and even strengthens, the state’s food and drink culture. He partners with local chefs for beer pairings and supports local farmers where possible. In Aditya’s words, “Susegado isn’t about doing nothing. It’s about doing things well, without rush.” A philosophy worth toasting.
