Conversation and Rain Dogs Exhibition Opening
Step into a world of visual storytelling with a special conversation featuring acclaimed photographer Rohit Chawla alongside Katharina Kakar, Atul Sarin, and Hemali Sodhi only at Museum of Goa. This conversation will precede the opening of ‘Rain Dogs’, Chawla’s latest body of work, his most introspective yet.
Recently awarded India’s first Industry Craft Gold Lion at Cannes in 2023, and having swept two Grand Prix honours at Spikes Asia and the Abbies in 2024, Rohit brings to ‘Rain Dogs’ a deep sense of stillness, solitude, and quiet resilience. “These are perhaps some of my quietest and introspective works,” he shares. “The pictures show resilience and the inner lives of these dogs.”
Rohit Chawla is widely regarded as one of India’s foremost contemporary photographers. With a storied career that began in advertising, he later founded his own design and film production company. His solo exhibitions have ranged from Wanderlust and Tribute to Raja Ravi Varma to Banned Books (2024), each project reflecting his diverse artistic engagements. As the former creative director at India Today and Open magazine, he produced over 400 iconic covers.
The panelists will discuss the state of stray animals in Goa and across India, exploring both government regulations and the perspectives of civil society. The conversation will dig into how these issues are being addressed and why the welfare of strays remains a critical concern in our evolving and increasingly urbanized society.
