MOG Sunday – Thoughtful Conversations, Meaningful Connections

Educational InitiativesOctober 1, 2025

The Museum of Goa Foundation’s flagship initiative, MOG Sundays, is a weekly public engagement program that nurtures critical dialogue on the intersections of art, culture, and society.

Since its inception in 2016, MOG Sundays has convened over 500 discussions, engaging more than 20,000 participants through thought-provoking sessions led by experts from diverse fields. The program explores themes such as environmental sustainability, technological impact, educational innovation, community narratives, evolving identities, heritage conservation, business entrepreneurship, and social justice activism.

By offering free and open access to these intellectual exchanges, the Museum of Goa Foundation advances its commitment to public engagement, inclusivity, and the cultivation of informed discourse.

Through MOG Sundays, the Foundation creates a dynamic platform for artists, scholars, and citizens to converge, reflect, and mobilize around issues of cultural and societal significance. MOG Sundays attract a diverse audience from across spaces, including academicians, cultural consumers, art enthusiasts, and subject-specific interest groups. Our attendees range from students to individuals residing in Goa.

On average, we welcome 30-80 people per event, creating a dynamic and engaging atmosphere. This varied audience enables rich interactions, developing a deeper appreciation for art, culture, and intellectual discourse, and reflecting the inclusive spirit of the Museum of Goa.

THE PROBLEM

The world today is facing a crisis of meaningful conversations, leading to a divided, misinformed, and increasingly polarized society.

Lack of inclusive spaces for thoughtful discussions: Insufficient platforms for open, respectful, and informed debates, hindering the exchange of diverse perspectives.

Misinformation and fake news: Proliferation of false information, eroding trust, critical thinking, and nuance in public discourse.

Divisive and sectarian world: Societies fragmented by ideologies, leading to intolerance, conflict, and social unrest.

Erosion of critical thinking: Compromised ability to analyze information, evaluate evidence, and form informed opinions, undermining constructive dialogue and decision-making.

OUR MISSION

The MOG Sunday series hosts 52 free programs annually, with a mission to:

Nurture Critical Thinking: Build a culture of critical thinking, free expression, and nuanced understanding on various topics, encouraging participants to engage deeply with art, culture, and society.

Bridge Art and Society: Make art and culture accessible and relevant to a broad audience, recognizing that the arts are a reflection of society. By exploring this intersection, we encourage participants to engage deeply with art, culture, and society, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around us.

Promote Inclusivity and Accessibility: Ensure that art remains open and democratic by offering free public programs, inviting people from all walks of life to participate, learn, and engage in critical thinking.

Our themes explore a wide range of topics, sparking nuanced discussions, enabling understanding, and providing a platform for critical thinking and reflection on the issues that shape our world.
