A Giant House of Miniatures
From 15 April to 14 May 2019, the Giant Dolls’ House Installation was on view at the Museum of Goa as part of AWOMO 2019 an initiative by the Museum of Goa and Children’s Art Studio.
The installation showcased a collection of miniature homes created by children, and women across different communities in Goa, each expressing a unique vision of what ‘home’ means. The miniatures were the outcome of a hands-on workshop facilitated by Louise Ten Bosch, where children used shoeboxes and found materials—coconut husks, broken jewelry, bottle caps, and more—to build detailed, imaginative interiors.

This installation was part of the international Giant Dolls’ House Project, founded by architect Dr. Catja de Haas. The project invites people around the world to reflect on home, community, and belonging through miniature storytelling. Each edition is shaped by its participants and setting, turning everyday materials into personal narratives and shared experiences. The Goa edition highlighted local voices and encouraged creativity, reuse, and meaningful connection.
