‘The First Book of Indlish Poems’ is a mix of comic and serious verse. These poems are written in English as it is spoken in India by Indians, including local Marathi/Hindi words. It includes recipes in verse as well as episodes from hospitals, schools and the author’s childhood.
Bombay born and raised, Sangolda-based, humour-columnist Sheela Jaywant’s short stories can be read online on several sites and in anthologies. Her stories/articles have won prizes at state, national and international levels. She won Pallium India’s ‘Best in Print Media Award 2019’. She has been a contributor to ‘Comixense’, a graphic educational magazine and has also been featured in ‘Trailblazers: Women Achievers of Goa’. Sheela Jaywant has translated six books from Marathi into English. and is the editor of the book ‘From Mind to Keyboard’.
