The Great Andamanese, remnants of the first human migration from Africa 70,000 years ago, are perhaps the oldest surviving civilization on the planet. In this talk, we will explore the worldview, culture, songs, beliefs, values and secrets of sustenance of this extraordinary tribe.
Professor Anvita Abbi is a linguist and scholar of minority languages, known for her studies on tribal languages and other minority languages of South Asia. In 2013, she was honoured with the Padma Shri for her contributions to the field of linguistics.
Professor Abbi took the audience on a fascinating journey exploring the language, worldview, culture, songs, beliefs and values of the Great Andamanese, one of the last remnants of the first human migration from Africa 70,000 years ago.
